With these
firms, grew from team member to team leader on numerous complex
commercial, business tort, antitrust, aviation, marine, rail,
products liability, personal injury, labor, employment, securities
and insurance cases. Insurance coverage experience includes CGL,
D & O, BBB, E & O, aviation, auto, title, mortgage, surety,
reinsurance, excess insurance policies. Much experience in obtaining
emergency writs and injunctive relief of national and international
multi-million dollar disputes.
EASTERN
AIRLINES - Miami, FL
ATTORNEY / SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST - 1972 - 1981
Gained extensive
knowledge of the aviation industry working for the third largest
U.S. air carrier at that time. Attended and graduated Law School
while working full time as Senior Financial Analyst. Created computerized
financial models to analyze regional and route performance, to
evaluate pilot contracts and to prepare exhibits for fare and
rate increase hearings before the Civil Aeronautics Board. Joined
the legal department in 1978 when deregulation put airlines in
transition.
- Represented
Eastern in many rate, route, enforcement, merger and proceedings
before the Civil Aeronautics Board.
- Worked
with U.S. Ambassadors, embassy officials and foreign counsel
to prepare for hearings before foreign civil aeronautics directorates,
successfully opening new markets in Latin American countries.
- Drafted
first "sweetheart" deal with a commuter airline providing
dedicated feed of passengers in exchange for terminal space
and privileges.
- Drafted
area settlement plan for collection of sales by travel agents
in the Caribbean (styled after ARC and IATA programs).
- Drafted
conditions of carriage for cargo airway bill when cargo deregulated
from tariffs.
OTHER AVIATION EXPERIENCE
I began my
involvement in aviation in college as a summer worker on the Avco
Aerostructures production line making wing sections for the Lockheed
C-141. From there I switched college curriculums at Auburn University
to Aviation Management and worked for two years running the local
Auburn Airport and FBO in the afternoons and weekends and earned
my private pilot's license and start an aerobatics flying club
with a Citabria. Currently flying gliders and ultralights and
building a two place STDL aircraft.
